Primate Watch Safari - 12 Days (Uganda)
Day 01: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.
A Safari Company representative from African Secrets Safaris will pick you from the airport and transfer you to the proposed hotel in Kampala. If your flight arrives in the morning, you can visit some exciting places with the help of your driver/guide. These may include; Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Kasubi Tombs, the Uganda museum,Bahai Temple, Kabakas Lake, craft shops including National theatre, among others .Dinner and overnight at Speke Hotel Kampala / Hotel Africana .
Day 02: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
After breakfast, Drive from Kampala to Kibale via Mubende with packed lunch arriving in late afternoon. Take a walk on Bigodi swamp to look for different bird species like the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler and many more also to see plants. Dinner and overnight at Ndali safari lodge (Luxury), Rwenzori View Guest House (Mid range) Kanyankyu ecological site (Basic).
Day 03: Kibale Forest National Park.
This park is home to a host of forest wildlife. It is accepted for a superlative diversity and highest massing of primates in the Great Lakes region. Take a nature walk in the tropical rainforest, search for wild chimpanzees with trained guides. Take lunch in the afternoon and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing via the crater lakes region with over 30 crater lakes to be explored. Dinner and over night at Luxury -Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge/Lake kitandara camp/Budget- institute of Ecology.
Day 04: Queen Elizabeth National Park (The Birder Paradise)
An early morning search for Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Hippos, Hyenas and more wildlife. Have lunch at Mweya, and embark on a walk to Maramagambo forest visiting the bat and the hunter’s cave, see theAÿblue lake, get a close look at a number of bats, the rock Pythons and the forest Cobras. Launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, which connects two lakes; George and Edward. Dinner and overnight at your proposed accommodation.
Day 05: Queen Elizabeth National Park - To Lake Bunyonyi.
Take breakfast, have a short drive to Kyambura gorge then take a walk in the gorge and Kyambura River where the game reserve derives its name. Expect various primates most especially Chimpanzees, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes,hyenas, Lion and many others. This gorge is a home of very many bird species. Have lunch en route then you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi for another scenario, arrive in time for evening birding. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.
Day 06: Lake Bunyonyi.
Make a ride on Lake Bunyonyi in dug out canoes and after lunch, take leisure walks, mountain biking or swim, sun-bathe name your choice. Dinner and Overnight at Bushara Island Camp/Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.
Day 07: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
En route to Bwindi and arrive at mid morning. Have lunch and take an option in the evening for Buhoma Village walk at an extra US $15 per person or relax enjoying the evening till dinner. Over night at Lake kitandara luxury tented camp/or Basic - Buhoma community bandas.
Day 08: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Head to Bwindi for long awaited adventure of Gorilla tracking in the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Gorilla tracking is unpredictable. However the excursion may take 2-8 hours. It all depends on the movement of these wonderful great apes. Dinner and Overnight at Lake kitandara luxury tented accommodation or Buhoma community bandas. (Basic)
Day 09: To Lake Mburo National Park.
After breakfast we drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Take an evening game drive in search for; Topi, Buffaloes, Water buck, the Eland, and not forgetting Impala. Dinner and Overnight at Mantana Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury) or drive to Mbarara at Agip Motel (Midrage) or at Rwonyo rest camp (Basic) at the park headquarters.
Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park.
Early in the morning, take game drive in park and later return to your Hotel for breakfast. After the boat rides on the Lake, leave for Kampala in the afternoon making a stop over at the Equator for some shots and visit to the Craft Village.
Later you will be dropped at your hotel in Kampala for over night.
Day 11: Kampala City Tour.
After your breakfast, take a trip to Uganda’s capital city starting in the morning at 0830hrs. Visit the Bahai temple - the biggest and only religious temple building of its kind in Africa.
Then the Uganda Museum - a historical feature with lots of colonial, cultural and traditional collections pass by the Makerere University -the first and the oldest university in East Africa.
Kasubi tombs - The largest crypt in Africa and special burial place for Buganda kings. Our guide will be pleased to give you a brief and interesting history on the same.
With the Namirembe Cathedral - The oldest religious feature that was constructed by the European missionaries. Then have Lunch at the African Village Restaurant. En route to Namugongo Shrines - a historical place where the first Ugandan Christians were murdered by the orders of a Buganda king. Return to your Hotel for Dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Departure from Entebbe International Airport.
Depending on the time of your flight, have an expedition before the Airport transfer. Do some shopping for souvenir for remembrance. Take a 40 minutes ride to the Airport, Check in before time of the flight and the company representative will be off.
Note: We have got two types of Safaris, Some opt for Luxury Safari (lodges / hotels) and others opt for Budget Safaris (camping and simple accommodation). Our rates vary with the accommodation type. Nevertheless the rest of the activities will remain the same. Feel free to inquire.
