Uganda Martyrs

The Kasubi tombs, a world cultural heritage site is where four of Buganda’s kings are buried, two of whom are associated with the history of the Uganda martyrs. Kusubi tombs is the burial place for the king who invited the missionaries and his successor who sentenced the martyrs. The Uganda Martyrs shrine in Namugongo martyrs shrine is a trailing site to visit, besides the other Cultural sites like the Ugandan Cathedrals; Rubaga Cathedral and Namirembe Cathedral, the Kabaka’s lake, Mengo palace and Old Kampala.

Uganda Martyrs Trails

The arrival of Christian missionaries in the 1880’s marked a turning point in the religious life of the people of Buganda, the political structure of Buganda kingdom and Uganda. In launching the Uganda Martyrs Trail, Minister Rukundo of Uganda said, “The Trail will serve to create a greater international awareness of Uganda’s first Christians who sacrificed their own lives instead of renouncing their faith. The trail will also attract pilgrims from regions throughout the world seeking a spiritual experience.” Come and have that spiritual experience at Namugongo Martyrs shrine, the martyrs trailing site in Uganda.

Katereke Culture Tour

Katereke Prison was dug by Kabaka Kalema and is a unique relic from a particularly unstable and violent period in Buganda History. Kabaka Kalema ruled Buganda after exiling Kabaka Mwanga from his kingdom. Two months later after Mwanga had been exiled, Kalema ordered for an arrest of all rival princes and princesses, and were exiled at katereke.

Naggalabi Culture Tour

Naggalabi Cultural center in Uganda has various attractions that will excite the holiday maker in you. Nakibuka is an anthill where Kintu, the founder of Bantu, stood and announced after Bemba had been killed. It is also the Kabaka’s sit during coronation. Another attraction is Bwanika house where the new Kabaka receives the powers and blessing of the forefathers. Kasubi tombs, located in Kampala - Uganda’s Capital City, is the cultural burial grounds where ther royal tombs of the Kabakas of Buganda are found. Kasubi tombs, constructed by Kabaka Mutesa 1, represents traditional Ganda architecture, culture and living traditions.
